Lots of fun for little $

To be honest, I didn't expect much for the price. I bought the pocket trumpet for the novelty of it. It is fun to play and once you make some minor adjustments to your playing the sound is pretty good. This is an excellent practice instrument, especially if you're maintaining the finish of your regular trumpet. I found that using a 1.5C mouthpiece really improves the tone.

I HAVE BEEN PLAYING A CORNET FOR ALMOST FIFTEEN YEARS, BUT I QUIT PLAYING ABOUT FIVE YEARS AGO. ONE DAY WHEN BROWSING ON THE AMAZON WEB SITE I CAME ACROSS THESE LITTLE POCKET TRUMPETS. I READ THE REVIEWS ABOUT THE PROBLEMS IT HAD WITH STICKING VALVES, BUT THE HORN WAS SO APPEALING, I WENT AHEAD AND ORDERED ONE ANYWAY. IT WAS A CHRISTMAS PRESENT TO MYSELF AND WHEN I OPENED THE BOX ON CHRISTMAS, SURE ENOUGH THE HORN I PURCHASED HAD STICKY VALVES. I WORKED WITH THE VALVES EVERY NIGHT FOR OVER A MONTH, CLEANING THEM AND WORKING THEM UP AND DOWN HUNDREDS IF NOT THOUSANDS OF TIMES AND FINALLY I CAN SAY THAT THE VALVES ARE WORKING PERFECTLY NOW. IT TOOK A LOT OF BREAKING IN, BUT NOW, I CAN'T GET THEM TO STICK OR EVEN RETURN SLOWLY. I DON'T LIKE THE MOUTHPIECE THAT CAME WITH THE HORN, BUT I AM GOING TO BUY ANOTHER MOUTHPIECE FOR IT THAT SUITS ME. THIS IS A PRETTY LITTLE HORN AND NOW WITH THE VALVE PROBLEM BEHIND ME I AM PERFECTLY HAPPY WITH IT. FOR THE MONEY YOU JUST CAN'T BEAT THI HORN. IF YOU BUY ONE, YOU WILL PROBABLY HAVE TO BREAK THE VALVES IN LIKE I DID AND OTHERS WHO HAVE WRITTEN REVIEWS ON THIS HORN. IF YOU DON'T MIND BEING PATIENT AND WILLING TO WORK IN THE VALVES, THIS LITTLE HORN IS AN EXCELLENT VALUE AND FOR THE PRICE YOU CAN'T GO WRONG. ALL IT TAKES IS PATIENCE AND A WILLINGNESS TO WORK WITH IT. IF YOU CAN DO THIS YOU WILL HAVE A PERFECTLY GOOD HORN.
